Old Time's Sake.......

The Setting: 1994, me & my guys just outclassed "whoever" in tonight's football game. After we grab a couple buckets of wings from Harold's we stroll into the party probably around 12:34. At that time, I can imagine I'd have been decked in Lo gear and a pair of Barkley's (hat banged mean to the left since that's what it was then...). This cut comes on, as one of the guys yell "NAJ-AYYY!" Everybody's hands hit the sky once the beat drops and some sweet thing in typical 90s makeup with rings on every finger comes to grind on the kid. One hand goes behind my head (Dougie) while the other still rests in the air. A few of the gods in the party are havin' a good time while bussin' the "Mr. Cheeks" dance; another couple makes out on the dance floor while all the ladies recite this cut word for word. That's how it should be everytime.......

The Real Cassie.......

Cassie Steele aka "Manny" Santos from Degrassi. I watched this show in H.S. for three reasons: Manny, Ellie, and Emma. (LOL @ Drake getting shot in the back by a tarred and feathered assailant).

Dr. Martens.......

Doc Martens went under new direction back in 2008 and there have been a few styles that I've been looking at for a while. These are two of them.......

P.S. The 1460 Boot and 1461 Shoe will always reign supreme as it relates to Docs.......

Fila T-1 Mid.......

Taken from Sneaker News.

I meant to post the Fila T-1 Mid a while back but I don't actually have the shoes and it was damn near impossible for me to find an image of them. I remember a similar pair being in a 2004 Nylon Guys magazine with green/red stripes. I'm glad they've decided to re-release them and I'll probably grab a pair for myself.

Made in Africa.......

Story from SlamXHype

Oliberte Chukka boot, manufactured in Africa (which basically means I'll probably try a pair).

More Shoes......

The Flat Head crafted a pair similar to these (a little better looking and about 10 times as expensive) and, in true Japanese fashion (no pun), there were no sizes made over a US10. I found these Interlaced Gibson shoes by George Cox and the shoe just screams "I'm to be paired with raw indigo denim immediately." And you can find those here.

For the Feet.......

Many thanks to Atmos for keeping it funky when it seems like everyone wants to be brown, natural, tan, blue oxford, red chambray, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, selling my sneakers, etcetera, made in america, Dr. Sartorial, etcetera........(none of the aforementioned is bad but its boring as fuck to look the same every day. Even you Karl Lagerfeld).

The Lords.......

We Are All Americans.......

"We are all Americans ... let’s not lose sight of that. I agree with most marketing strategies.... We are all Americans not a fragramented society. Learn the English language like the Asians and let’s not continue to fragment the country. True, Latinos are only 15%, Blacks, 12% what about Italians, Germans, French English, Asians, etc., they have assimilated! Remember assimilation is the KEY to the strength of the USA, not fragmentation ... one language, one economy, one country equals prosperity for every "American A concerned American."

Some proud American chose to post this under an article from MediaPost on how advertisers are royally failing to understand the economic power of the Hispanic market. While I admire this person's patriotism and virtuous outlook for our great nation-state, I couldn't disagree more emphatically with some of his/her points. As he/she iterates "American" so poignantly, it's as if he's suggesting that there's a TRUE American culture; and once in individual (or group) immigrates to the Land of the Free, they should put their native heritages way on the back burner, learn the English language and become TRUE American. There's much to be said about this comment, but I don't want to type an essay when I don't have to.......

Mack 10.......

Ivy Prepatory.......

All images from Close Up And Private. Steve Urkel and Carlton Banks were idols of mine for whatever reason so I've always admidered an exaggerated Ivy/Prep look. The folks at Close Up And Private freak the look in a way that I think most people will appreciate.

Pants.......

Mark Mcnairy was photo'd wearing these pants on Mister Mort's site a while before they were actually released. I've coveted these since I discovered there was a pair in grey wool, but I don't have the $1,000,000 it takes to actually purchase them.

Urban Thermo Dynamics.......

Boots.......

I was telling my guy Big Rizahb that Timberland should release the 7-Eye Chukka in an 8" model. Then I went on my normal diatribe about the color combinations and materials I'd use to freak em. Well, Cole Haan made it happen before I could consult with Timberland and these Air Brandon boots are the result...and they're on SALE now!

Optometry.......

These aren't our images, but look forward to similar styles of vintage eyewear at Solemates...Chicago in the near future.
