I've never been much for cars, but there were always those that I thought were simply untouchable. These are just a few that I've longed for at some point in my life.

The 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS

Judging by the Air Jordan 3s, I'll assume this is a 1989 or so Mercedez Benz SL 500 AMG (kitted like fuck and I say 89 because in those days it was damn near illegal to have on an Mikes that were the least bit old or played out. By the time they re-released in 1994, I'm sure KnP weren't on this but please correct me if I'm bogus). This is a bad ass whip.

My pops refers to this as the "Big Boy Special." 1996 Mercedez Benz SL600. This hoe was bad.

IMHO, the only whip for a dope boy. Don't trick it out with dumb ass 24" rims, either. Get yourself one of these in a classic Red, White, Black, or Silver and IF YOU MUST SHINE, consider the option for Chrome rims from the showroom. The best models of the Rover were 97-99.

And before the Rover, I remember the "Big Cheeses" rockin' with the Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. White or Black w/Gold detailing on the wheels or you were in violation.



1997 Jeep Wrangler. This was a bad ass ride as well. Kinda under the "Baby Mama" act but as a kid I didn't know much better.



In December of 1993, I was 5 years old. That year I got the most Christmas presents that I'd ever get for the rest of my life. Among them was a model of a 1988 Lamborghini Countach LP5000 pretty similar to this one. I still have it.

I've been familiar with Terry's work for a while but I was never really sure why so many people heralded him as such an incredible photographer (To be honest, I don't see why many photographers are held in such high regard among the Bohemian crowd. Most often, fucks just wet their seats with respect to the client and/or model(s)). But I guess I'm just a Philistine. My artistic ineptness aside, here's an account from a model who worked with him and was coerced to wax his dolphin in a room full of Richardson's associates. Pegleg for Casio.......

I haven't checked to see if any of the Big Guys have posted these, but I'm sure they've been floating around the blogosphere for a few hours now. PEGLEG NYC has been one of my favorite brands even when I donned size 42 x 30 $19.99 Old Navy jeans and 4XL Jordan Brand tees circa 2005. These are nowhere as brilliantly created as the PEGLEG x Union NYC collab, but I thought I'd post em up anyways.

I would love for you all to dismiss any fuck shit you've heard about Wikipedia. The way we gather knowledge has been transmogrified to the point that any one of us dregs of society can be an expert on just about anything. With our fast typing fingers and creative search inquiries, giving out multiple orgasms is as easy as tying a bow-tie. Wikipedia is a an UNREAL source for information and oft-times, the info is presented with validity and great detail.

Maharishi/MHI are another couple of my favorite brands that I virtually own none of (I think that was bad grammar. "Camo prints, baggy fits, sweat pants, and a whole lot of funky" basically summate the brand(s) for me. And who can forget these 2004 beauties?

I've been wanting a real funky black hoody and this joint is past bananas. I'd wear this every damn day if the weather permits.

For the Feet.......

Yeah, I'm going to post a bunch of shoes here. I'm all for quality but I'm not sure if these mocs by Verginia Footwear are really worth double the price of a very similar looking pair of Clarks. Whenever I spend a good chunk of bread on anything, it's normally a "hype buy" and I feel like I've wasted my money. But these look badass as hell, though.

For the Feet.......

The difference between these and Converse Chuck Taylor: About $80, increased comfort and durability, and virtual unavailability in the U.S (from what I can tell; if you know otherwise, hit the comment section). BTW, I have too many shoes that look insanely similar to this and it's becoming a problem.

For the Feet.......

Great things happen when you when you tread unfamiliar waters...for better or for worse. The other day, I took a different walking route just because I figured I'd find something new. And find something new, I did. This past Monday I sat staring past the gate and through the windows of a Chicago shoe store. It was gated, of course, because they had just closed up shop; this made me a bit anxious to say the least. Today I was able to check out this unearthed gem (for me, at least) and I was well pleased with my visit.
When you walk in, you're greeted by a shoe-shinesman named Larry and just about every wall is graced with some pretty amazing footwear from Clarks and Timberland to Cole Haan and Allen-Edmonds. The associate boasted on their extensive warehouse of over 70,000 pairs and 22 stockrooms. This should be fun.

For the Feet.......

I'm not a fan of longwings but these are (since I don't want to employ any overused adjectives) really nice. They're a makeup from Hawaiian shoe retailer Leather Soul and Alden. I came across Leather Soul in the inaugural Inventory Magazine and the spot certainly gets a cosign from me (not that it needs it). Like most other sites that I browse on the daily, I can't afford a damn thing on there, but "just looking" has never been much of a problem for me.

For the head (II).......

If you haven't seen any of these hats by Kangol then this should be a treat for you. A cap, a deerstalker, a bucket hat and a beret all in Japanese jersey (loopwheeled) cotton. These have been available for months now and I still don't think they've been snatched up like they should've been. I'll take one beret and one bucket hat to go, please.

Sneakers.......

The most comfortable shoes that you may ever own will be made by New Balance. I guarantee it. I've got ankle problems and New Balance shoes (991 model, in particular) are incomparable to anything I've ever worn. Some of them actually look pretty decent, too.

For the ears.......

Ever since I took my first standardized test in the 2nd Grade, I've been a fan of probably one of the greatest products ever made. The Dixon Ticonderoga #2 Pencil. Real Nice.

Nice Shirt.......

I don't know anyone that would wear this besides myself. I'm sure there are more than a few people, I just don't think I know them. It's nice to see brands having fun with clothes rather than just doing what sells (there's nothing wrong with selling, however, but let's be a bit more inventive please).

*Fuhgeddaboutit* This was the best damn Super Bowl ad of the past couple of years. It may not have entertained like the Docker's or the Snicker's commercial, but advertising isn't supposed to be entertaining anyways. Google got right to the point and showed you all why they (partially) run the world.

I ran across Cheap Monday back in 2004 after reading an article on them in my local newspaper. The piece talked a bit about Cheap Monday's logo which features an upside-down cross. Immediately, I was intrigued but I was wearing size 42 Old Navy jeans everyday so my purchase power wasn't expressed at that time. Fast forward a few years and the Swedish brand, partly owned by H&M, is one of the best brands "doing it" in my opinion. Find Cheap Monday for men and women at Solemates...Chicago.

Timberland 3 Eye Lug

Allow me to explain a little something about being someone obsessed with shoes. There are just about NO LIMITATIONS to what that person likes and may eventually purchase. I like just about everything there is (yup, even those hiking-ass New Balance and the brown Mephistos). Earlier on, I eschewed classic (normally kicks that are found in abundance at any time of the year) for the "cool" shit that I was afraid may sell out. Nike got real clever and released the "cool" kicks every 30 minutes, and having only so much to spend, I often put everything else I wanted on the backburner.
Well, nowadays Nike sucks and I've been going back to some of my all time favorites (I always experimented with other brands but Nike was about 70% of what I owned). The shoe pictured above is certainly an all time favorite for me and, luckily, I can find a pair pretty much anytime I've got some ducats to blow. A couple of months ago, I was able to grab it's 7 foot cousin and, with spring approaching, now's the time for the little one to come home.

Clarks Desert Mali

I think everyone has that one item that's a "unicorn" for them. Unfortunately, I have about 50 or so different "unicorn items." I came across the Clarks Desert Mali back in 2006 and was taken aback to say the least. The shoe is quite similar to the Boondocker Boot with a look that's fairly unique to Clarks. A couple of weeks ago, I finally acquired a pair (not pictured) and I don't there's any better way to spend $59.99. If the stars happen to line up accordingly, I'd love for the "powers that be" to come across this post in some way, shape, or form. I mean, can you imagine the fucking possibilities of a boot like this? Just think the original sand suede colorways, or even various hues of red or brown in leather or suede. And if you really wanna get freaky, add a lug sole for a silly rugged look...all while maintaining a more than reasonable price point. Well, we probably won't see the Desert Mali make a glorious return until the Japanese decide to play around with it and Clarks realize there's DUMB commercial viability for the boot.

The Fatigue Pant

Yesterday I walked into The Gap for the first time in a long time. For the past couple seasons, most of the stores offerings were boring as fuck or just didn't flow well with my style. Well yesterday, I encountered a military-inspired section that was most certainly my twist. Then I noticed the Fatigue Pant that was on sale for $19.99 in about 3 diferent colorways. For those of us not willing to shell out $150+ for the Engineered Garments version, these don't do so bad. This particular fatigue pant is a bit heavier than the usual Gap Khaki and "weathered and broken-in" finish is comfortable as hell.
I didn't feel like taking my own fit pics (and I probably never will), so don't mind the Gap models rocking them like pointdexters. I know the leg opening will be a bit wide for most but the broken-in finish allows for pinrolling without looking silly. Per usual, I tried them on with about 6 diferent types of shoes/boots and they worked out splendidly. Buy them and wear them as you please.

On the Radar: Kenetrek

Okay, for the 10 or so fans/visitors of this blog, I've got a bit of a treat for you today. The Kenetrek company makes what seem to be some really excellent boots and for my Arctic weather denizens, boots seem to come in handy. If nothing else, Kenetrek boots are an escape from the obvious choices of LL Bean, Danner, Red Wing, and others wildly popular brands among the lovers of all things authentic. Feel free to diversify your look from time to time and step into these chunky hunting/mountain boots.

And if you're still on the fence Kenetrek are patrons of Arrow and Russell Moccasin, too.

Style.......

one of the best outiftting displays I've ever seen. it's a shame that engineered garments is so damn expensive, though (not to mention that the majority of the collection is Japan only).

APC does just about everything right (except not offering a high-rise denim jean) and they stay true to their classic/funky style with this hat. It's quite pricey, but I don't think that will deter me this time around...

WANT; These shoes.

I really dig these oxfords by Hathorn because they add a realy funky twist to an otherwise, pretty bland piece of footwear. The super thick stitched Vibram soles really set them off for the kid. But, like 98% of Japanese exclusive products, the $750+ price tag isn't even close to being an acceptable price range for any item of footwear or apparel.

In all realness, these are more than likely a spruced up version of a vintage eBay find...maybe a Carolina Work Boot oxford. I think i'll get on that right away.

on the radar: dickies flannel-lined pants

yes, this picture is a relatively bite-sized but it's more than enough for people to get the point. a flannel lining can add some much needed pop to even the most square of trousers. they're relatively easy to find and pretty reasonably priced (WWM and E. Garments don't count). dickies is one of my favorite brands so I think I'll rock with them. they'll work well with these moc-toe red wings.
